We have entered the final three stages of The Daily Herald’s coverage of the upcoming Arlington Heights trustee election:
1. Formal endorsement by the Editorial Board of incumbent candidates or candidates supported by the incumbent block.
2. Minimal to zero coverage of the upcoming Arlington Heights trustee election.
3. Front page report of the winning endorsed candidates.
The Editorial Board fully understands block voting in Arlington Heights elections, see post below. As a result the Editorial Board has endorsed incumbent candidates or candidates supported by the incumbent block nearly 100% of the time.
The Herald has a vested interest in keeping the voter turn out low, to maximize the effect of the voting block and maintain their reputation of picking the winning candidates. Due to block voting trustee elections in Arlington Heights are hardly democratic.
The Herald endorsements for Arlington Heights trustee will be: Mr. Thomas Hayes, Mr. John Scaletta, Ms. Carol Blackwood and Mr. Bruce Green. These candidates are either incumbents or have close political connections to the incumbents and will receive the block vote.
Spoiler alert: They will also win the election. And we wonder why voter turnout is less than 20% in Arlington Heights.

You did a great job on spoiling the election for me, although I will still vote. Make sure you do the same.
ReplyDeleteNice post, Keith. Frustrating, huh?
