It Pays to Hire Expensive Lawyers

The Arlington Heights Electoral Board ruled today during the nominating petition challenge of Mr. John Scaletta. After a motion by the objectors to recuse Mrs. Mulder and Mr. Stengren for conflict of interest was rejected by Mrs. Mulder and Mr. Stengren the hearing proceeded on schedule, voting 3-0 against the objectors.

Mr. Scaletta's lawyer is with the law firm Storino, Ramello and Durkin. This law firm is in Rosemont and is a frequent donor to Mrs. Arlene Mulder's campaign.

The lawyer for Mr. Scaletta successfully argued a technicality regarding the objector's addresses. The objector's petitions were thrown out before the case could be presented. Ouch! Probably a good thing for Mr. Scaletta. Mr. Segal, the village attorney, requested to see the evidence against Mr. Scaletta as his attorney swiftly objected. Clearly a fight the Scaletta defense team were afraid to engage.

So Mr. Scaletta won through a technicality. Our congratulations. However, this is not a victory to be real proud of. We will never know if Mr. Scaletta is truly qualified to be on the ballot.

The objection to Mr. Tom Hayes was withdrawn amicably by the objectors.
