In the event of a nomination petition challenge, which there are two challenges this trustee election cycle. One challenge to Mr. Thomas W. Hayes and one to Mr. John Scaletta. An electoral board must hear the petition objections and then pass impartial judgement.
The Arlington Heights Electoral Board is made up of the Village President (chairman), the municpal clerk, and the trustee who has served the greatest number of years. In order, the Arlington Heights Electoral Board is Mrs. Arlene Mulder, Mrs. Edwina Corso and Mr. Thomas F. Stengren. It is actually a tie between Mr. Stengren and Mr. Hayes, they both have been around since 1991.
In the case of Mr. John Scaletta, Mrs. Mulder signed his petition. Mr. Stengren circulated two full nominating petition sheets for Mr. Scaletta. All have served on the Village Board together the past four years.
In the case of Mr. Thomas W. Hayes, Mrs. Mulder circulated three full nominating petition sheets, and Mr. Stengren circulated two full nominating sheets. Mr. Hayes' petiton also includes the signature of Mr. John Scaletta. Mr. Hayes, Mr. Stengren and Mrs. Mulder have been on the Village board together since 1993.
Mrs. Edwina Corso is retiring after 35 years with the Village of Arlington Heights. She is well aware which side her bread is buttered.
An objective panel? Fortunately there is a provision for appeal in the Illinois code. Candidate or objector can file petition for judicial review with the clerk of the circuit court.
