Little American Flags as Sales Props

Every year around July 4th some Real Estate Creature has to use the American flag as a prop for advertising their business. This year as I was emerging from the Arlington Heights Library I spotted a rash of little flags on the Village parkway along Dunton Ave.

There was also a Village crew planting 'No Parking' signs along Dunton Ave. for the upcoming July 4th parade. I asked the crew if they could please remove the little flags from the parkway. Because as a resident I do not endorse private advertising on public property, but they just gave me a funny stare.

However, during local elections Village employees are very efficient in pulling down campaign signs on parkways for candidates not endorsed by Arlene Mulder.

The Real Estate Creature that was so proudly playing on patriotism was Ms. Caroline Starr of C-Star Properties, with Coldwell Bankers, (847) 890-8892. I would not bother to call her at that number since after three attempts I finally left a message into her voice mail.

I was wondering if Ms. Starr felt our country went to several wars just for her to use the flag on July 4th as an advertising prop for her private business. Also was using public space a part of her advertising strategy? I politely asked that Ms. Star call back and straighten me out, but presumably she has been too busy to return my call.
