The Florida Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen was fired after the season by owner Jeffrey Loria. If a poor win/loss record is the criteria to fire managers there should be several vacancies around the league.
But we all know the losing record in Miami was not the reason for letting him go. It was simply because Ozzie was Ozzie.
Did Mr. Loria think he was getting some quiet school boy when he hired Ozzie?
Where has Mr. Loria been the last 27 years? Ozzie even coached the Marlins in 2000 and helped them win a World Series in 2003.
White Sox fans are familiar with Ozzie and discount his antics as just that. Plus he delivered on a World Series Pennant in 2005. We know him and we are unaffected when he is himself. It is actually kind of refreshing and truthful.
Mr. Loria was succumbing to political pressure in Little Havana. In Chicago we have thicker skin than in a small town. Ozzie should consider coming back to the White Sox because we appreciate World Series titles a bit more than reactionary politics.
